Capvision, a large consulting firm, had its China offices raided by police due to alleged activities counterproductive to China’s national-security regulations. According to China Central Television, some consultants became accomplices with the West and they were “spying, buying, and extorting state secrets and intelligence.” Chinese authorities have barred executives from leaving mainland China, raided offices of US companies and questioned others. As the Chinese government continues to crackdown on companies to protect their national security, economists fear that this will harm China’s ability to attract foreign investment.
